I want to put up a nesting box for birds in my garden. Does it matter which way it faces?

It's the right time of year to put up your box, mrs p, as it gives the birds time to get used to it before the real business of breeding begins.
Put the box between north and south east to avoid any strong sun and out of the prevailing winds and rain. Try to tilt the box just a bit, if possible to create an overhang that will keep out rain.
Site the box 5 - 16 feet off the ground out of reach from cats and away from bird tables and feeders.
