We have always had black and white shorthair cats - but our current one when sitting, always has his tongue quite visibly sticking out- no other of our cats ever did this - does a tongue sticking out show a sign or mood ?(he isn't directing it at anyone in particular!)

awww how cute, my cat used to do this too and he wasnt the same type as yours, not sure why they do it but its so comical
it what made my cat stand out at the cattery that why i bought her 20 well spent .She is sat on my lap now as she always dose when I'm on my PC :-)
Both our cats start doing this when worming time comes around, so we take it as a sign that worming is overdue!!
Oh bless. My cat does this but I just thought she was being cheeky! Now I know. :-)
Sandmaster... How on earth do you know its worming time when they stick their tongue out??? I'm intrigued!!!
murphy does this too, she just sits and stares at me with her tongue sticking out, no idea why. she looks like a right twonk though
lol my male cat does that too hes a black and white short hair he does it when hes been cleaning alot it looks funny
I had a cat that did that once, looks very funny.

I used to stick it back in, the cat was most offended.
Hi Nosha. We have two cats. One is entirely white and the other is a tabby. Different litters. The white came from my daughter's teacher (when she was 9, 17 years ago) and the other we bought at that time for my son who was 10. We have noticed for years that if we forget worming time has arrived, the white one (Snowy) starts sticking his tongue out. After worming he stops, until next time.....
Incidentally he is not at all well now. Luckily he wasn't born deaf as some white cats are, but he is now. And he is failing to clean himself properly. But he has been a great pet and we dread losing him. The other, Sheba, is as tough as old boots and is still fighting fit - but a lor more affectionate than she used to be.
my acts do this, its so cute but its nothing wrong with them that i know of, its just when they forget to put it back in their mouth lol
