About a week ago i saw Monty Python & The Holy Grail for the first time & i enjoyed it.Yet any time they have re-runs of the Monty Python series i just haven't enjoyed them.Any ideas why i would like the movie but not the series.I guess it's just the same kind of humour. Also has this happened to anyone else not just with Monty Python but any other tv programme.
programmes like monty pyphon may not make you laugh 1st time round but give it time and it will ! you'll find yourself quoting scenes etc etc
like with any series, there are hit and miss scenes/episodes
Python is indeed a hit-and-miss affair, as the Pythons themselves admitted. The film, as has been suggested, has a coherent plot rather than a series of unconnected sketches, and it is acknowledged as one of their finest works.
much of Monty Python I find just too daft to laugh at, but every now and then there is a sketch that tickles me. Remember watching MP live at the Bowl on video, the 'Ministry of Silly Walks' was so funny I had tears of laughter just running down my face. It's one of those moment in time things....keep watching!
in its day on tv it was so different...u didn't know what was going to come up next...anyway it was good to discuss in the bike shed having a smoke at 11pm breaktime at school...personal favorite merchant banker and rent an argument...most hated the one about lupins!!!

i too dont really like the monty python series, odd sketches were funny but that was all, but i love the films, well not the meaning of life, i thought it was trying to hard, but then it was there last one. my favourite is the life of brian, "behold, brians shoe," "its brians shoe" "big nose" these lines still crack me up.
