Anyone watch crimewatch last night?
Does anyone else think the killer of 77 year old woman was her son?
Strange as they said no motive (except for perhaps the money in the will!), person was on foot and son noticed light was on so must live close, then son rang the ambulance and from the recording he didn't sound in shock or worried.
Then he didn't appear on crimewatch-very suspicious dont you think!?

Strange as it may seem, we are far more likely to be killed by a member of our own family than a stranger.
In the particular case you mention (I saw part of it last night) I am sure the police considered the son, but he may have an alibi.
I must admit though, when they played he 999 call he made straight away he said "she may have been murdered" which is a strange thing to say when you have just found your own mother dead.
Maybe the police have no evidence against the son and are waiting for him to "crack"

I have just been to the BBC crimewatch site and it says
"Mrs Edmonds lived in Fig Tree Cottage on an idyllic country estate. Her son and his family lived next door but were not at home on this particular day"

"Between midday and 4pm someone came into the cottage. Mrs Edmonds either let them in or they walked in through the kitchen door, which was usually left unlocked".
"Her son became concerned and called the estate manager who had a spare key, and arranged to meet him at the cottage. At 5.45pm Mrs Edmond's son and the estate manager entered the cottage from different entrances in the kitchen and found Mrs Edmonds lying face down on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood".
So the kitchen door was normally unlocked-but the son called the estate manager who had a key?
Didn't want to be the only one to find her, as didn't want it to look like he had walked in and murdered her then called the police perhaps...

I think you'll find if it was her son they'd have cracked him long ago, they're extremely professional at that sort of thing nowadays (without any longer having to use the 1970s bully-boy tactics).
I noticed that the man in the yellow slick tried to use her card at at atm later that night, but failed to get any money. So evidently even though he terrified and tortured her she didn't give him the correct number.
I hope that was on purpose and not because she was so terrified she couldn't remember, bless her heart. Damn it, people who torture old people and children should be locked up and have the key chucked away for good!

Guys I think you are pretty sick for even writing this sort of accusation in public. The guy is grieving for his mum and if you watched it properly you would work out that late that evening while the son was grieving with his family and helping the police, the stranger tried to take money from the cashpoint. I am grieving for a lost parent myself right now and I think you should have a bit more humanity and compassion. Its no wonder the country is in the heartless state that is in.

Joey44 I understand you're grieving, but it is just mine and other people's opinions. And as VHG said it's normally a family member.
There are so many cases of family members being involved, which infact crimewatch did an update on not so long ago where a husband and wife had been killed and it turned out to be their son.
And of course Karen Matthews who has just gone to prison for playing a part in the kidnap her own daughter.
We wonder how people could do this to a family member, but the fact is people do..
