found hinding in towel in airing cupboard, caterpillar like about 3mm long. What is it?

Could be a Carpet Beetle larva ("woolly bear".) They eat protein and can damage material. The adult isn't a pest, but the larva is. Typing into Google threw up many results, including http://www.cheltenham.gov.uk/libraries/templates/ourservice. asp?URN=1740&FolderID=0

Kit may well be right, I found something similar and tentativly identified it as a Bacon beetle larva (also known as a wooly bear)but the carpet beetle looks a very good possibility
