Sick Parakeet

i have a female 4 year old keet. Yesterday she satarted acting strangely. She sits in a hi=unched over position on her perch, occasionally shivers, all her feathers remain puffed out and she continually has her head turned toward her wing with her eyes partly closed. I'm not sure if she is pregnant (her cage mate's sex is not identifiable yet) or sick. Please help!!

Does her cagemate seem ok? Are the birds usually very active during the day? Is the cage in a draught? As the weather here in the UK has got rather cold lately, she may just be chilly, but what you are describing could also suggest illness particularly if she has been doing it all day. I'd take her to the vet for a check over to be on the safe side as birds and other 'wild' animals are very good at hiding illness until they are very sick.

Definitely sick. Take her to the vet asap. Birds need to be treated very quickly when they are sick. Isolate her in a separate cage, if possible. Cover the cage to eliminate draughts and keep her quiet in a very warm room.

I have the same problem. I have no clue whats going on. First shes as sick/pregnant as a dog and now shes chewing on her toy! that would be really cool if she is pregnent though. I really love her, but cant "afford" to take her to vet. help!
