Well they usually use labradors - but they are guide dogs not blind dogs
Question Author
sorry guide dogs then. why do they use this specific make then?
They use mostly Labradors because they are biddable, easily trained and a suitable size, as the blind person has to hold a harness on the dogs back to be guided by them. They also sometimes use Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds and some crosses such as Labrador/Poodles which have become known as Labradoodles, originally tried because they were thought to moult less than the Labs, and therefore easier for blind people to cope with than dogs that moult like Labradors do. However it has been proved that this is not always the case, it depends on which parent they take after.

what would they use for a very small person like mini me in Austin powers though? Do you think Jack Russels could be trained up to the same standard?
