Sense of smell

I have given up smoking and cannot stand my new sense of smell. Everything stinks and it's driving me mad. I can still smell stale cigarettes in the house. I washed the curtains and cushions etc but can still smell it. How long does it take before the smell of fags goes??

The same with cats and dogs too umm.
When you stop smoking you will maybe go into someones house and no matter how clean they are or their cat / dog you can smell an animal smell.

Unless of course their dog / cat uses impulse or lynx.

I can smell the crisps people are eating even when they are sitting a distance away.

You will also notice when someone else has just had a cigarette too. You will wonder if you ever smelt like that, and the answer is yes!
I went through all my clothes and furnishings washing and cleaning for weeks. Eventually your things will smell clean again.

You need to drink more.

Alcohol has a pleasant anaesthetic effect on the nasal smell receptors.

You won't notice the unpleasant smells.

Also, you won't notice if you walk into hard objects like door frames, or fall on the floor.

That's a problem Jayne. Because we are not smoking we drink quicker so get drunk more often. I'm sure it'll settle down.

I was amased that when I gave up I won a prize at a body shop party for being able to tell the smell of things against my mates that had never smoked!!

yes ummm I used to have to get tenners out at a time for a pack and now I hardly ever go to hole in wall

And you end up buying stuff you don't actually need when you go to the shop and you only went to the shop to get fags.

we had the same problem, as a lot of our friends still smoke,and as we don't like them smoking in our home a lot of them have stopped calling arround, some respect the fact and go out into the prch and smoke,
Either way, make sure you never start again.

We let people smoke in the out house. I even stand out there and haven't been tempted as of yet.

I don't think I'll start again. It's been too easy and I wouldn't want to jinx that.
