I have a 9448 intruder alarm fitted and today for no reason the internal alarm started. When I looked the tamper button was lit up.Have got the alarm back to normal but wondering what could have caused it. A couple of days back we had intermittent power cuts could that have been the cause? Also yesterday had cavity wall insulation fitted, could the vibration of the drilling had anything to do with it. Thanks in advance.

When was the back-up battery last replaced ? It should be within 5 years of installation.

Thanks for reply woodchopper but battery was replaced couple of years ago. Think it must have been the power cuts that affected it as no trouble since.
A Scantronic 9448, a damn good alarm for the price. The tamper will only light up and the internal alarm sound if one of the PIR's has the cover dislodged or removed or the bell box has the cover removed or dislodged....
You should be able to trace where the tamper is coming from with the use of a multimeter - check the return cable from the tamper switches in the pir's etc. if ti is dead the fault is in that circuit.
You'll have to get into the main box that houses the actual alarm circuitry not just the key pad. Which also has a tamper switch fitted,

Everything been o.k since think it must have been to do with all the power cuts as have found out since there was loads of alarms going off that day just couldn't understand why it happened a couple of days later. However alarm had not been used over those two days. Thanks a lot for your replies.
