my cat is on this food cos he has crystals in his urine system. the cans are 156g each (approx the size of tinned tuna). the feeding guide says to feed him 1 and a 1/3 tins a day ie 200g. i cant believe this is enough food for him. poor cat is manic at the moment, vocally pestering me for food whilst walking at my heel and staring up at me like a well trained dog. i feel dead mean only feeding him this much. does it sound right to you?

Its probably more then enough. Its just you've got into the trap of feeding what he wants plus treats etc. Three weeks ago I took Max ( a long haired GSD) to the vets for minor surgery and was told he was overweight and to reduce his main meal by and cut out all his treats. Now I'm just like you being made to feel guilty every time I feed him
...even worse is having to eat your own dinner with beady eyes staring at you.

My two cats are not overweight but Frankie demands food several times a day. It is much easier to give into his demands than put up with his pathetic crying.
If you have made a drastic cut in his food I am sure that there would be no problem with mixing in some rice with his food. It would fill him up and do him no harm at all. I had to do this with my GSD and it helped her lose a bit of weight whilst not going hungry.
