yellow teeth!
11 Answers
im confused and a little upset, as a kid i was always told to look after my teeth, i did, mum and dad were strict very strict with sweets even juice etc, never tasted fizzy pop till i was a teenager!
anyway im 27 and have nice white teeth and never had a filling or a problem with my teeth, im obviously now grateful for the strictness lol
but i have been the same with my daughter, maybe not so strict on the sweets, but she is 7 has 4 new bottom teeth the rest are milk teeth and the 4 new teeth are yellow! i know they will obviously look darker next to her milk teeth but they do look really yellow
she cleans her teeth every single day and even started using floss this year as i noticed cleaning wasnt getting all the bits out, plus got mouth wash ( the one for kids)
any ideas on why her teeth are this colour? i mean she is due the dentist in a month or so, so i will ask then but has anyone else notied this with their child? not sure where im going wrong???

I have an aquaintance with really yellow teeth - looks like she smokes 40 a day and never brushed.
It turns out it is a side effect of an illness she has, wheat allergy I think.
just did a google on "reasons for yellow teeth" - might be worth you doing same.

Don't know how true this is but a friend of mine from school had yellow teeth which was apparently caused by fluoride overdose, fluoride was/still is added to tap water and back in the 80's it was the 'in thing' to give kids flouride supplements.
Have a word with the dentist, if its really noticeable maybe she could have them whitened

Curiosity is correct. The colour of your teeth to some extent, is set regardless of dental hygiene.
My sister has very very white teeth, but they are much more susceptible to decay and she has lots of fillings.
Mine are a more creamy white, however they are alot stronger and i have only 1 filling (aged32).
My dentist told me that he has observed that teeth my colour are often stronger than naturally very very white ones.
So maybe you should look on the bright side if your daughter has good strong teeth instead of pure white ones!
If it bothers her that much when she is older, she could always get white veneers.

Hi - I too have horrible yellowy teeth - diabetic for 30yr+ so sweets arn't to blame.!! In my case it is apparently due to long courses of antibiotics I was on as a child, due to a bone infection. My youngest has similar teeth and he too was on IV antibiotics and long courses of them due to a similar prob. My other two kids also have excellent dental hygiene and the sort of dazzling gnashers I really envy.
My daughter, who is now 34, has alwas had yellow teeth. Hers was due, so I was told when she was younger antibitoics caused it . But she has never had a filling in all these years. The dentist said they where stronger than white teeth. Which is true in my other daughter, 36, who has loads of fillings in hers.
Yellow Teeth are usually caused by consumption of certain foods land beverages such as turmeric, potato, blueberry, blackberry, tobacco, red wine, tea, coffee etc. Regularly rubbing dried and powdered orange peels on the teeth is one of the most effective on yellow teeth.
