Unbelieveable......!!!! (May find distressing)
11 Answers
In the news there is a story about a guy who killed his neighbours dog by hitting it around the head with a garden hoe....The owner is trying to prosecute, however, the RSPCA state that under the Animal Rights Act (what rights??), as the dog was instantly made unconscious, it didnt suffer and he, therefore, cannot be prosecuted.........!!!!
SERIOUSLY......The guy killed the dog......!!
So, in theory, anybody can go and kill an animal, cat, dog or both if they choose, as long as they ensure they render it immediately unconscious or dead and they can get away with it......?? Id like to hit him round the head with a garden hoe and see how he likes it.....

People who do things like this to animals are capable of doing it to another human. How do they know that the dog didn't suffer. Humans who are knocked unconcious can still feel pain. In any case that is no excuse the poor dog was still murdered. I feel that the rspca should try to change the "animal rights" act. This poor animal had no rights.
The biggest drawback is the weakness of the law in relation to animal cruelty. To fairminded people, this is totally unacceptable.
Lobby your MPs, folks !! They're the people who get these laws put onto the statute books in the first place (That is if you can wait several years for it to happen, or you don't mind waiting while your MP fills out their expenses first? Mieow!!!)

My opinion of the RSPCA went downhill following this:
My parents live in a flat, one of their neighbours had a bull terrier that was hardly every taken out (once every three days if it was lucky) but if it had an accident indoors it was beaten with a chain. So as you can imagine it was beaten a lot.
My mum called the RSPCA to report it but unless she gave her name and address they wouldn't do anything.
My mum tried to explain that the husband was an abusive drunk and she really didn't want him to know that she had reported him, but all the person would say is that if we don't have your name and address we can't do anything.
It really upset my mum especially as she had a much loved dog at the time.
Thankfully (sorry if this upsets anyone) the dog died a while later. At least it didn't have to suffer anymore.

The RSPCA have to request details of someone reporting a problem in order to be sure it is genuine. However, they will keep your details confidential and will not tell the animal owner who has complained.
The RSPCA on the whole does a great job in very challenging circumstances. The Law is and always has been an arse and we should be grateful for the small changes that have been made to give animals a little more protection than they had 10yrs ago. Hopefully another 10yrs will see the laws improving again to something closer to those they have in the US.

Several years ago I was outside working in my garden, as was the retired woman next door (Barbara) who was digging her borders. I had my Jack Russell Mitzy with me but the dog got into Barbara's garden through a gap in the fence without me noticing. Mitzy loved people and she was always friendly, but Barbara was one of those people who didn't like dogs.
Suddenly I heard a horrible squealing and yelping then Mitzy came squealing through the fence. Then I noticed she had four deep and perfectly-spaced puncture wounds in her back which were bleeding. When I looked over the fence there was Barbara working away on her flower border with a garden fork! When I asked what the hell she had done she said Mitzy had attacked her. Mitzy certainly hadn't as she never attacked people (only other dogs and cats) and I never heard a sound from her.
What could a big, ugly fella like me do against a little old lady - and a regular church-goer at that!? It does go to show how vicious and inherantly unpleasant many people are.
