This spring we sowed some tomato seeds and when they came up we found this odd plant. It has fairly large leaves which are serrated and have a pungent smell. The flowers are large white trumpet shaped and are very sweet smelling and it is over in 24 hours. Where the flower was there is what seems to be a fruit forming. It is bright green and is covered in soft spikes. Has anyone any ideas as to what this is please?
Sounds like a Datura.(thorn apple)Have seen them growing wild all over Spain asp the Canaries.I think they can be toxic. so wash hands after handeling.I think another variant is called Brugmansia.
