ive been advised by the doc's to take Piriton regularly for a while due to possible reaction to anti inflammatroies...

anyways - i took 3 pirion every 4hrs yesterday, doc said they would make me feel drowsy but woah...i was bordering on stoned at one point - not in a good way, a bad way. I felt like i was drifting away all the time i found it hard to relax and i kept feeling really clammy all the time.

Is this normal with piriton? especially if im told to take it regularly? Ive never had it before. Ive taken my first one again today, and already i can feel my hands turn really clammy, i feel a little drowsy but its no big deal at the moment, of course im expecting 2 more tablets later for that to get worse!

personally - i think im just uber sensitive to any kind of medication im just curious of other peoples response to piriton

You say you took 3 tablets every 4 hours.

I hope you are not saying you took 3 tablets together every 4 hours! That would be way over the dosage you should take.

The usual dose for an adult is one tablet every four hours.

Read this:

If you are in any doubt about theses side effects don't take any more tablets until you have spoken to your doctor about it.
why the hell is he prescribing you more than it says on the pack!! I;d get another doc or opinion
Morning Danny

You're obviously having some sort of reaction to the Piriton, so i would either go back to your doctor/call him/her for advice so you can be prescibed something else that wont , hopefully affect you the way the Piriton seems to be.

Your chemist may know of something else you can try, but may be best to check with your GP first.

We're abroad at the moment and some of our families/groups are using it against insect bites/stings, and no real ill feeling, so could be you are allergic to something in the pill.
Having said that, some medication do have a slight reaction in some people, as they advise of this on the instructions.

I'm sure you will get some good advice on here from great posters such as Sqad etc later, if hopefully they see it, so good luck and all the best to you.

cheers
yogi
danny........sorry, but I don't believe you.

N0 doctor would prescribe that dosage of Piriton and anyway, the chemist would have picked up on this and questioned it.

Sorry.
are you getting them on prescription? If so the label on front should say how many doc actually prescribed
Danny

Just had a look on packet......It's 1 tablet every 4-6 hours and do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours, so you are taking too much. Thats the adult dose........may explain your symptoms.

I would contact your doctor asap, and do not take anymore until you do.
Danny

That's a poor show if what Sqad said is true.........hope it is'nt, in which case you should report your doctor straight away.
You could ask chemists advice. there are non-drowsy anti histamines on the market.
yogi...without the facts, I would suggest that the "patient " be reported NOT the doctor.
and alot cheaper antihistamines with same dose
he should have precsribed you a prescription based tablet-one you cant actually buy. Im using Telfast-you only need one the whole day as its so strong (i have an allergy to the sun-i come up in very big red hives) .
you dont make sense in your question

"i took 3 pirion every 4hrs yesterday"

"Ive taken my first one again today.............im expecting 2 more tablets later"

so what is it, 3 every 4 hours or just 3 in the day (spaced at 4 hours)?
ah yes so he could have just worded it wrong
Morning sqad

Going by what the "patient" has just posted on angel's thread in this category, you could well be right, my friend.

Well done, btw, in your snooks and your high break....read that somewhere......you are getting better,eh, squiddly?

Have a great day, sqad

yogs
yogi...that 37 break was a "one off".....I am usually crap or "almost" crap.

I haven't got the temperament for snooker as it needs a cool calm collected head........which I "aint" got. LOL
Sqad, you can get piriton without prescription, so the chemist may not know how many he intended to take.
Perhaps he misheard what the doctor advised him.
Danny

Bottom line is if you DID word you're question wrong, and it is 1 tablet every 4 hours you're taking, then you will still need to go back to the doctor, as obviously you need advice on these symptoms you're having.

If this is the case, i apologise to you for doubting your word and what i mentioned to sqad.

if you are taking 3 piriton every 4 hours......don't have a clue how your GP/chemist would allow this.....so.......go to your nearest GP/Hospital now!!!
Danny , like everyone else , I'm hoping you didn't take 3 all at the same time , if you did , that's 2 too many , and that dose could explain how you felt , an overdose !
sqad

Your selling yourself short again, as in time and practice, you will hopefully develop a "cool calm collected head" for the game.
I'm pretty crap too, squiddly, so next time over, we can be crap together, ok?
Try Clarityn - they are non drowsy and you only have to take one a day.
