Midges and Vitamin B

I've heard taking Vitaman B suppliments daily helps stop midges from biting.... Anyone had any luck with this?

I've heard that it's vitamin B6 in particular - my uncle took this to stop sandflies biting him and he says it worked. (apparently it also made him smell of Marmite! But maybe insects don't like that very much...)
