I'm applying for my student loan for my first year of university and I have to state parents' income as the loans are income assessed. It says you should state all sources of income, there is a box for how much working tax credits you get, then further down there is a box for social security benefits. The social security benefits box is the only one that I would consider putting it in but I don't know if that's right? Basicly can anyone tell me if child tax credits are social security benefits?

strictly speaking, they're not as they are dealt with by the Inland Revenue (tax people), but you will need to declare CTC somewhere as an income. I'm sure it will be fine, so long as it's obvious what the figure relates to.

personally, I'd put it inthe Working Tax Credits box but make it clear that it's Child Tax Credits.
