Worried about my little dog....
16 Answers
im off to the vets in a few minutes but im sooo worried about my jack russell. He is just so not himself, tail between his legs, ears back, no energy, very lethargic he seems a little swollen at his rear end (around his waist - if you know what i mean?!). He's not 2 yrs yet so usually into everything, really nosey and inqusitive. i am so worried about what it may be thats causing this. i just wondered if anyone else had experienced this with their dog?

He had a couple of injections yesterday although it helped for a while there is more underlying. he has been sedated and is having an xray and whatever else is needed just about now. He had blood in his mouth too this morning and poison has not been ruled out yet. I am just praying he pulls through. I should know more by 2 o'clock this afternoon at the latest.
Oh goodness BusyBee - how scary.
When one of my dogs had pancreatitis she had that real 'under the weather' look about her. It is really dangerous but can be beaten if treated early. Of course it might not be the same with your wee fella but I wish you all the best.
I notice that you haven't posted since 10am but I truely hope that everything is ok with him.

sorry only just got on computer again....he had eaten warfarin and his bloods were not at all good, his lungs were filling up with blood and his blood wouldnt congeal at all. It was touch and go yesterday - he had a severely inflammed, swollen and bleeding throat/back of tongue and small bones in his stomach too which makes me think he had eaten a poisoned rat but i may be wrong. However overnight he has made an amazing recovery which i am so very relieved about. But he must be careful as yet as his blood wont be back to normal for a while - its hard to keep them quiet when they are so full of energy! but i am so pleased i now have this problem rather than the problem i had yesterday. Thanks for your wishes.
Did vet say definitely Warfarin? Warfarin is rarely used these day as a rat poison and it is very unlikely to have secondary poisoning from warfarin, (secondary poisoning = being poisoned from eating a poisoned animal) also, the amount of poison contained in a rat is hardly going to be enough to cause much harm to a dog, even a small one. I admit it is not an impossibility though.
