Hello there....

We have a new puppy (mini schnauzer) and want to get him microchipped soon,

But was just wondering wether there is a microchip yet that has a built in tracking device.... so if the worst ever did happen we may be able to find him easier.

Many Thanks,

Simon

Not a microchip, but a receiver your dog wears on its collar (ok till it loses its collar!) Also not cheap. Why are you waiting to get your dog microchipped - get it done asap just in case.

And the best of these devices is even dearer, starting at 1,000. You can find your dog 'anywhere in the world' to an accuracy of 5 metres radius, and the better model can be is set up so you are alerted when the dog 'points' or barks at game ! More seriously, the dog needs to be a fair size to carry any of these receiver devices on the collar. A min schnauzer would be too small, methinks.
