Dog has starting weeing in the house - HELP!
3 Answers
My Jack Russell Terrier Cross has started to wee and occasionally poo in the house, mostly during the night but sometimes when we are in the next room.
She is around 1 year old & we have had her 5 months, we had her from a rescue centre so no background info.
When we had her she did mess whilst she was settling in but hasn't done it for a few months. She is sometimes left for 8+ hrs in the day & doesn't do it then yet cannot seem to go thru the night now. I have just got up to discover she has wee'd. My husband came to bed at 1am and she was let out then & so has done it between then & 6.30am! She has two walks a day, a short one before we go to work then a longer one at night and she's taken off the lead & runs and we play with her.
Any ideas on what is making her do this or how we can stop her? Thank you! x

At night she knows that you are in the house and wants to be with you, when you come to her you discover what she has done hey presto she gets attention! You may need to break this association which will not be easy.
When you go to her first thing, if she has done anything, just completely ignore it. Take her out to where you want her to perform and give her the command 'wee-wee' or 'poo-poo' or whatever you choose. Give lots and lots of praise when she performs! Meanwhile, the one of you left in the house clear up before she comes back in and make no reference to it at all. You will need to do this for a while so be patient. I hope this is of use to you.
