chewing, gnawing the bottom of a wooden fence I have around the garden. The damage is about 6 inches from the bottom and the edges of two panels have been chewed, to leave a hole about 3 inches in diameter.Could it be rabbits on their hind legs trying to get in , or rats the same ,fox , dog cat, weasel , ferret any ideas or suggestions welcome ,am worried.
And no- I don't live anywhere near any beavers lol.
Any advice or help would be very welcome , am a bit scared to be honest. TIA. Brenda.

we get foxes, but they tend to burrow under the fence rather than eat it, and I'd expect rabbits to do the same. I don't know anything about weasels, maybe they're a possibility.

Hi Brenda, sounds like rabbits, according to an experienced rabbit fencer. You need 3 foot depth rabbit net, 1 foot above ground stapled on to to posts, 1 foot down from ground level then 1 foot - outward - underground (an L shape - actually the further out the better with longer net). This will eradicate rabbit problems.
They are not scary really, just pesky.
