i am just about to go into battle with the vets we use for our dog.the tablets my dog is on can be bought much cheaper online.according to what i read, the vet is obliged to give me a prescription for the tablets.however,if they drag their heels i wanted to know if there is a sort of ruling body for vets.a bit like the general medical council.thank you

They must give you a prescription if requested, but from October last year they are able to charge you for it. The normal fee is approximately £10, which often makes it no cheaper to buy online. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons would be able to advise you.
Thanks for your reply.

'Jabberwocky' is one of the most famous poems in the English language. It appears in Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking Glass'. It's full of invented words which, logically, should be meaningless but every adult and child who has ever read it finds that it conjures up a great adventure in their mind:

our vets changed their charging structure when theb prescription thing came out. Before they had, they admit, charged less for the consultations and more for the drugs etc, they now charge the market rate for consumables and have raised their consultation rates accordingly, although post op checks re still included in the op price and other post consultation checks are still free.
PS if you really are having t battle with your vet, can you change to a different practice...I like to feel that I trust my vets implicitly which i couldn't do if I was wrangling with them
