cats and dogs not getting along

12 week old puppy Shar pei and 4 year old cat, the dogs just wants to chase the cat and i'm frightened the dog will be aggressive towards the cat. Is there any thing i can do to make them tolarate each other? Any info and tips on training Shar peis aswell will be very usefull.
