Dog food
4 Answers
Murphy, 2 yr old GSD x Collie, has always been fed on Pets at home dried food but he has gone completely off it. He still eats his morning Weetabix and any snacks or treats, just not his evening meal. It's horrible to see him just looking at me sadly then leaving it. Has he gone off it? Do I try something else? Has anybody got any advice, please x

Like you I tried dried food - I dont think any oul dog likes it - anyway if you buy wet food ie tins of food - mix a little bit of chicken into it - he will eat it up. I put peeled carrots into mine as well. At the weekend he gets a bit of mixed veg as I dont eat veg myself too well.
The vet also told me never to worry about a dog not eating they can actually survive 5 days so she said if he is hungry he will eventually eat it.

Dispense with the treats as he isnt hungry enough. As long as you have ruled out illness, most dogs will eat when they are hungry. I have been there, and done that, spoiling a dog that was fussy, changing diets, and adding nice treats to get him to eat, and it made my life a nightmare with him, and I wont go down that route again.
Thanks for your advice. He would turn his nose up at bits of chicken, he really isn't much of a meat eater! Lol! We have spoken to someone in pets at home who has advised us to give him a few less of his biscuits that he is on and add some veg and rice to his dinner. Hopefully having a bit of something else in there will incourage him to eat it. We'll see how he goes. x
