Medicine for 2 yrs old - hacking cough
My 2 yr old son has had a dry cough now for at least 3 weeks --- he seems fine with it through the day but as you can imagine night time is another story. Last night I felt like he coughed constantly and I cant even remember sleeping. I know its only a cough/cold due to the flem he is bringing up and poohing out (sorry) .... my Dr says I just have to leave it to clear on its on so I decided to get the Tixylix Baby Syrup to try and coat his throat of a night.
I just feel its getting more of a hacking cough now and wondered if anyone has any tried and tested remedies that can be bought over the counter even with this age ban on most medicines!
Cheers

When they have a cough I keep the room cool (as warm air seems to make it worse) and use extra blankets to keep them warm. I prop them up on extra pillows and cover their chests and backs with Vicks vapour rub and I put Karvol on their pyjama tops. Hope this helps.
Last night was my first night of sleep --- from 11-7am. Dont know if I feel better or worse for it. Ive been using some medicine from Boots chemist that is really only a syrup but I did start with the vapour rub the other night and it seems to help. Last night of all the nights I forgot to put my sons fleece sleep suit on so even though his room is not cold cold, the cooler air must have helped!!
Thanks again
