I wonder how many cat owners / lovers would have them if they had to clear up their mess (as with dogs) from other peoples lawns and gardens. I bet the cat population would diminish quite rapidly. I know my neighbour who owns two ginger toms would not be able to perform such a task, don't think she knows how disgusting it is as her cats use my garden despite me using all the recommended deterents. Perhaps there should be a law that you cannot own a cat unless you teach it to use cat litter provided by the owner on the owners premises and should they perform any where else then a hefty fine would be appropriate.

Kazal is not the only one who feels strongly about this, my previous neighbour had six cats all of which used my Garden as a loo, and when I complained he gave me the old "well it's a cats nature" Which was ok with him till Max appeared on the scene and soon sorted his cats, he wasn't to happy I told him it was a dogs nature to bark at and chase cats and that I was going to...

I sense you feel strongly about this.
I have indoor cats
oh, how terrible.
It's not like people take cats out on leads though is it.

I can just imagine owners garden hopping after their cats...
Do they never go out Peri?

Brian hasn't been out yet but he's dying to.
lol ummmm that is quite an image....
lol @ ummmm
We could nick peoples washing at the same time :-)
Actually I do clear up after mine smelly cat - the little sod comes in to use in his litter tray sometimes ;-)
OK so mine have a litter tray which they know how to use but unless I keep them in (and they are both part feral so that is just impossible - one is Houdini anyway) I can't possibly police it.

Granted I hate it (mine in fairness tend to use my garden for their poops) and I can see how distressing it is for you, but other than getting a large dog, I see no solution.
You need a shovel... firstly to 'scoop the poop'...

Secondly, to give the aforementioned cat a good thwack over the skull...

And thirdly to bury it... preferably in someone else's garden...

:-)
no ummmm - they have always been house cats - they both had different owners who died - and our male cat lived in a vets for 3 months before we got him - he may have been on route to south africa with one of the students there if we hadnt taken him. They have the run of the house - they are fully trained and totally spoiled and have no interest in going out - so it suits us - we've had a cat killed on the road and its not pleasant
Kazal is not the only one who feels strongly about this, my previous neighbour had six cats all of which used my Garden as a loo, and when I complained he gave me the old "well it's a cats nature" Which was ok with him till Max appeared on the scene and soon sorted his cats, he wasn't to happy I told him it was a dogs nature to bark at and chase cats and that I was going to train Max to use his front lawn as a loo. It has always really pissed me off that I as a resposible dog owner have to clear up Max's mess but I'm liable for fines of up to £1000 if I forget while cats blithely wonder about fouling evey where but their own patch
The simple solution would the fitting of cat nappies.

Oooo I see a gap in the market here!
to compare dogs fouling to cats is a little unfair to our feline friends.. at least they dig a hole and bury it!!!! Dogs just cr@p anywhere they like... footpaths, pavements, lawns etc.. THATS WHY YOU HAVE TO CLEAN IT UP!!!

I would love it actually if I could train my Harvey to cr@p in my miserable old neighbours garden!!! They deserve it!!!

Cats are clean animals!!
My cats are both indoor cats. When I had a dog I picked up the doggy poo without problem. It must be frustrating having cats crap in your garden.

But - how are the cat owners going to locate the poo from their cat? The cat is out alone, wandering around doing cat stuff, so how do we know where they have gone to the toilet.

Many cats actually go home to do the toilet and then go out again - I find that to be really cute.
I have given Harvey Pickle Pants a tray as we had such a wet summer and felt sorry for him having to go out in the rain for a wee... and now he goes outside - runs round the garden.. comes back in - has a wee and then goes back outside!!!! Little so and so!!!!
He never poos in the tray - but I know he uses our garden to poo in as I find little mounds of dirt around my plants!!!

Sweet!!! ;-)
Harvey Pickle Pants - I love that name, so cute!
