I saw the programme so know what you are on about. I think it was morphic resonance but not absolutely sure, just sticks in my mind for some reason.
Saw the programme too....I think Jules is right....that rings bells in my head (not the General Ignorance type of bells tho!).  Check the BBC website, search for QUI on their site and go to the best link.  You might get more info there.  Failing that, there's a QI forum on there, so probably someone on there could give you pointers on morphic resonance or where to look.
of course you want to search for QI, not QUI, as I'm sure you guessed!

Hi  Pipee!

if you want to read something that doesnt have the word atlantis in it, then the human equivalent of this is Carl gustav Jung's ideas on synchronicity. He wrote a book on it - but that of course doesnt establish it as a theory or to be true.

synchronicity he says occurs when you pick up a phone to call someone and you find they have just dialled your number and are on the other end. But could this be chance? good question - and CGJ ploughs on....

he also said there was something called group consciousness, where you say, why hasnt someone done XYz and a few days later your nespaper carries an article about someone doing XYZ

At round about chapter 5 he says somewhat disappointingly that this theory cannot be scientifically tested, and I put the book down.

But hey, there's along boring public holiday coming up, and it'll keep you off the streets!

and there's no mention of atlantis in any of the first five chapters, so its a must read for the end of 2004!
