It is not easy to tell in very young kittens, and even us breeders have made mistakes! Generally though, there is a longer gap between the two "holes" if you pardon the expression. A female will have around 1/4 inch gap and a male aroung 1/2 inch. Much easier if you have a litter with mixed sexes, just compare them.
