Tom cat on the razz ?

Hi, our 2 year old Tom cat has been missing for 5 days now and it's breaking my daughter's heart. He hasn't had his nuts off yet so we were wondering if he could've gone off in search of girlie cats. Would this be usual ? never had a cat go missing before.

sounds rather like it, but are you in a built up area ?? don't want to cause unnecessary panic but cats and cars don't mix well. Though on the other hand, do cats come in season in the cold weather ?? I don't know, maybe someone else can be more help. Hope he turns up very soon, all the best

My mum's cat went missing for 7 days. We think he may have been shut in somewhere so it might be worth asking neighbours to check their sheds and garages etc. Hope he turns up soon

My (neutered) cat would regularly go missing for days at a time and then appear with a dead duck or a live baby rabbit for me. He even appeared after swimming in turps or something (many trips to the vet and 3 baths a day for him that time). He just liked to go off on adventure now and then. There's also a cat who comes into my work and her owner came looking for her one time when she disappeared for 2 months. No one knows where she went but she came back safe and sound. Try not to worry too much and put up a notice in your local shops/vet in case someone else has taken him in.

Probably nothing to worry about but when he does come back why not get him neutered? Much better for Kitty Kat otherwise as an entire feline he will come back at some stage with abscesses through fighting with other males plus the chance of all sorts of other nasties which your child may pick up. Having said that, this is the usual proceedure when an animal goes missing. 1. Contact all local animal charities to see if he's been handed in. 2. Contact the local authorities, they are responsible for removing carcasses from the road.3) Check with neighbours to see if he's locked in anywhere. 4) Put up Lost notices everywhere. 5)A good place to ask is the local school as children are very observant - go through the head teacher. 6). Put an advert in local paper. 7) If you have a very local radio station they may broadcast an appeal. 8) Feel very stupid when after doing all this Kitty is sitting by the fire when you get home. Thank you so much for your help. Someone has just knocked the door and said that a cat matching the decription has been taken to the vets, and the vets have confirmed this. Apparently, he's hurt his foot but other than that, he's ok.


Christ knows how much this will cost me !!!!!! at least he's ok and i'll have a very happy 11 year old daughter

I remember our cat going missing when I was around your daughter's age - it was a pretty unpleasant time. We never found the cat again.

I am glad that your little monster is well and I hope that the vets bill is not too steep. I paid £175 last week for inhalers etc for my cat's asthma, thankfully he is insured and I will get the money back - eventually.

So glad he's turned up safe if not completely sound. I would also advise asking the vet about getting him neutered because complete toms do go off in search of females and he could get into all sorts of scrapes and go missing for much longer
I have recently taken in a cat who was hanging around where I work for weeks and all through the really cold weather. We tried posters, vets, local cat rescue places etc but no-one claimed him. He's been neutered and I still can't get rid of the feeling that someone is missing him somewhere, it's horrible to lose a pet and not know where they have gone.

Glad he's back - I have 3 toms (well, ex-toms) and I would be worried sick if they went missing. I've had some overnighter absences but they tend either to have gone next door (who also have 3 cats) or have been shut in somewhere. One got shut in a shed on Christmas Eve, fortunately they went to the shed on Christmas morning otherwise he might have been there over the hols. Open door > nosy cat... I hope yours recovers well, HM - that was nice of some stranger to take him to the vets.
