Can anyone identify a small birdsnest, found in ivy being removed from a house in central France? The outside is made from tiny twigs and lichen-the inside, which measures 45mm diameter by 30mm deep,is lined with cow hair and down.It is exquisite.

It could be a wren's nest.  These are very neat and round with a fairly small opening.  I often have them in the ivy on my house.  I have also had siskins' nests which are also tiny and beautiful.  I am not a bird expert though.
