We used to have a pair of wagtails visit our garden, in fact, spent most of the day here, but they have suddenly disappeared.
Do these birds migrate at this time of year - they have been with us throughout the winter - actually they seemed to revel in the snow we had back in February.
We live in rural Surrey and have various other (common) birds visit our garden, robins, blackbirds and starlings mostly.
We have noticed that sparrows seem very sparse and yet they used to be the most common.
We miss the wagtails though - they were such lively and comic birds....., would be interested to know more about their migratory habits.

Thanks. Just looked at that website
I live nearby in Berks & we have pied wagtails.....
It's been a very cold winter and a hard one for small birds. So it goes.
I though North European pied wagtails migrated TO Britain during winter?
If they were pied wagtails, I didn't think they migrated that much, and if they did move away due to the wintry weather, I would have thought they would be back by now. I don't know about other breeds of wagtail.
