word of warning re hamster homes
5 Answers
I had a hamster in a large rotastak cage with lots of tubes and rooms, there are some safety features where metal rings can be added to stop tubes being eaten through but I dont think this is sufficient. My hamster was amazing fit and healthy and died the other night from chewing through a weakness in the cage design and choking, Oreo was only a couple of months old . Having learnt this I would recommend glass or plastic fish tanks for the safest homes for hamsters and would encourage other to do also and to learn from mine and oreo's lesson.

yes they are difficult to clean.
Just to add to the record for those with those cages :
It was actually a room as apposed to a tube that oreo chewed through called a 'dining room' (appropriate) or a 'tower lookout' it had a flat base to side tunnel connectors a plastic seethrough domed top and a draw which clicked in and out so you could put treats in and push them inside to the hamster waiting. She managed to push the draw open herself, there was a small gap so she chewed to get out.

I have the rotastak space station so this is worrying. I wouldn't really recommend them although they look fun, They are difficult to clean and the tube joins are not very secure, a slight nudge and mine come apart. I have the see-through dome at the top but I've taped it shut on the outside. My main problem is I have what I think is called the carrying box attached by a tube with the snap on lid. It's used as his loo but I have to put a weight on it because somehow he can push the lid out, goodness knows how.
