I hope someone can help. We have a top of the range Hotpoint washing machine and sometimes when we take washing out it smells really bad, something between smelly socks and wet dog. This is the 2nd machine we have had and this one is only 3 months old. It is not a problem with every wash just some of them and we have had the plumbing checked. Can anyone think what the problem could be? I have tried cleaning the machine using the recommended cleaner but the problem is still there.
I agree with maggie21. I had a new washing machine installed and the waste pipe attaches to the sink waste. The water from the sink was seeping back down the washing machine waste pipe.
Just a thought .... You're not overloading the machine, are you? I know someone who puts as much into the drum as is physically possible, and the dirties don't get the agitation they need to get clean.
clean out the powder disperser draw take it out if poss
also when you've finished your wash get all the water that's in your rubber door deal seal
at the bottom and if poss leave the door open over night to dry off then once a month do an empty very hot wash with an amount of washing soda in
flush the hose pipe out it could be debris from the sink is seeping in to the hose pipe`unscrew from under the sink, put the hose pipe in the sink and switch the machine on a quick wash and clear the pipe,

just another tip if you do flush the pipe put half a tub of bi carbonate of soda in the machine so it runs through the pipe it will leave the machine smelly really fresh.
