Both my Jack Russells are extremely sensitive to noise, not just to fireworks etc,but even to the tone in my voice. If they sense I'm getting even the teeniest bit displeased with my husband, they run upstairs.
I don't rant and rave, and they have never been smacked, so why is this ?
And would that Bachs rescue remedy help ?

They obviously see you as the BIG BOSS. For fireworks you might try DAP in a diffuser as well as rescue remedy but you'd need to use the desensitisation CD as well.

IMO that won't help with your voice tone...maybe your signals aren't as subtle as you think lol
Hi curvybird, my JR cross is just the same. Just very sensitive in general (but not funnily enough to big bangs or fireworks). I only have to give her a withering look and she is devastated!!
My JR cross is the same, I only have to say "what have you been up to ?", in a normal voice , her tail goes down and she curls up in a ball. She was a rescue dog and had a family ownership with children who tormented her, then an old lady who used to smack her with a cushion or a newspaper, and then myself.
I have had her for 5 years now and have never hit her or anything like that but she is very nervous indeed.
I give her Bach's rescue a few days before Nov 5th, it does seem to help along with all the extra cuddles.
