Can anybody recommend any good spots for bird watching ?

Want to go bird watching this weekend but not sure where to start, can anybody recommend any good places?

What part of Wales North wales....Conwy, Dee Estuary, llanfairfechan, great orme red wharf bay anglesey,
porthmadog cob
lake vrnwy,
further south dyfyi estuary and ynis hir rspb (really good as lots of different habitats) Ynyslas sand dunes,
cwm clydach
newport wetlands anywhere along the coast really as the recent storms will force birds in from open sea...look out for divers ducks and migrant waders also flocks of fiches and buntings also WAXWINGS
mawdach valley
or in the mountains for ravens and raptors

I wouldn't recommend Ynyslas in this weather, you'd have no skin left. :-))

Naz...just use a good moisturiser and take a kite if there are no birds almost as much fun its been excellent for red kites recently as well as buntings and finches...

I get Kites in the field behind my house, a neighbour had 2 land in his garden. Ô¿Ô

We have a 'resident' Sparrowhawk too, much to the chagrin of the little birdies. We've watched him take birds mid-flight about 6 feet in front of us.

I love raptors....no conscience just efficient killing machines....and beautiful
had a sparrowhawk in my birmingham garden for a while...used my eucalyptus as a plucking post until harrassment from local corvids drove him off.. Can't wait til I move to wales

Sitting by our bird table, about 8ft from the kitchen window ... obviously waiting for his lunch.

I saw red kites circling round when I stayed with friends on a farm in Mid Wales - a great site. It's nice to know that their numbers have gone up since then and can now be seen in other areas.

Naah, they're fairly aerodynamic.

some parts of Wales red kites seem more common than pigeons and the birds in Oxfordshire are doing well too

We took a skyward pic at Nant yr Arian, loaded it into Photoshop when we got home and counted over 80 Kites ... and that was only the ones in frame.
