my dog had spinal surgery 2 weeks ago to remove a slipped disc and today i have noticed that there is fluid building up around the scar. she had her staples taken out on monday and she finished her last antibiotic yesterday. The scabbing is dropping off and it all looks clean underneath. Anyone else's dog had this?

Unless it is red or she appears to be pain, it should go away, but I would just keep an eye on it. If worried, ring vet for advice, who may want to just check her over.
My veterinary knowledge is minimal and no I haven't had a dog which has had the operation, but in all likelihood it is just serous fluid which is no big deal.

However two phrases in your post make me suspicious......"spinal surgery" and" fluid building up"..............I would need to be convinced by a vet that the fluid wasn´t spinal fluid...............although I am sure that it is not.

i took her to the vet and they drained it. it did have quite a bit of blood in it but they didnt seem too concerned. she has been put on more antibiotics just in case and have taken a swab of the fluid to check for infection. he spun the blood to check for white blood cells and there were'nt any.

in the end it had to be drained about 10 times. she is fully back to normal now, just a bit spaghetti legged!
