Apologies that this isn't a question but some people expressed an interest to know what had happened to Zac following my visit to the vets with him this morning.
Well, I'm fairly sure I can breath a big sigh of relief, as the lump has reduced in size by about two thirds and is a lot softer. The vet gave me some more antibiotics which should hopefully clear things up completely.
Many thanks to those who gave advice.

Thanks CAS.....95% relieved, but the other 5% when it is completely gone.

"Counting chickens" and all that.

thats good news Count keep us posted
That is good news - I hope that the antibiotics clear up the rest of the lump.

It is easy to say to somebody else "don't worry" but when it is your own furry friend it isn't at easy to stay calm.

It is worse when you live alone with your friend - they become your best friend and the thought of losing them is frightening. I told my brother that I loved my cats more than him and he wasn't at all surprised. Just wait until he finds out who I have left all my money to in my will.

Best wishes to you and Zac.

LOL wolf. I work from home most of the time so he's my only company during the day.
Really pleased to hear that, thanks for the up-date.

That's great news Count A Strong. What a worry for you but fingers crossed for Zac's total recovery. Healing vibes winging his way.

Thanks guys your concern is very touching and much appreciated.
Good news indeed. Fingers crossed for the rest to go down. My boys lump is now very pink and healthy looking, which is an improvement on the nasty red bloody lump it was, so once the antibiotics are finished it will be biopsied.
Good news CaS, thanks for the update. Keep us informed, pat for Zac here <pat pat>
