Litter Training Rabbits

I have a lionhead bunny, hes approx 3 years old from what i have been told i got him off a friend. the problem is he likes to use his bed as a toilet which means he gets in a mess as this is where he sleeps. I have bought a litter tray which goes in his hutch (he is an outdoor rabbit) but he doesnt use it he doesnt seem to like it at all, i keep putting his poo in litter tray everyday but he still doesnt seem to want to use it. has anyone got any help or advise for me, this is my first bunny : )
