I sometimes see a lady walking her dog near to where I live. The dog has lost the use of his back legs and has a contraption fitted to keep him mobile - two wheels strapped to his back end.
As an animal lover, each time I see this lady and dog I get mixed emotions .... happy that the lady has pulled out all the stops to keep the dog alive, but very sad that he can't run and chase balls and do the things other dogs do.
Please could I have your thoughts on this? Do you think it is an act of kindness towards the dog?
We have to keep our GSD muzzled and on a lead because he hates all other dogs apart from ours. Therefore when he's out, he can't run or chase balls either - should we have him PTS?
I think that if the dog is happy with the situation, then it's fine. You can't assume you know what the dog feels, or put how you would feel in the same circumstances onto the dog.
We have a guy in our town with a motorised scooter. he has two poodles who sit in the basket at the front. He's never short of someone to talk to, everyone chats to him and pets the dogs.
