I have just bought a 16 month old labrador who gets car sick even on short journeys. I have been told there is a herbal remedy that works, does anyone know what it is called, or any other wasy to overcome this?

You could try just sitting with him in the car and starting the engine, telling him/her that they are good and giving him treats. Do that a few times to get him used to sensation of the car when the engine is turned on. Then slowly take him/her on very short trips and gradually take him on longer journeys. If that doesn't work you could always ask the vet or someone who works in a pet shop if they can recommend anything. Ginger is good for humans, may be you could try given the dog a little bit of ginger with their titbit before taking him out. Good luck.
My dog is car sick but as she gets older it is happening far less often. I suppose this is like humans, as children often outgrow car sickness. The vet recommended Benylin Cough Mixture (human variety)!!! I was amazed, but apparently is contains antihistamines which helps to control the sickness.
It did work but the dog hated taking it and used to run away when she saw the bottle being opened. The dose given depends on the size of dog, but I would check with the vet. Benylin is far cheaper than anything you can get from the vet!
