Ive been looking on go-compare to see what is the best offer and there are plenty but, has anybody had any problems with insurance company's not wanting to pay out for operations and treatment?.
I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm only on a pension but I want my pup to have a good and healthy life after what she went through in the first 6 weeks of her life.

Am with More Than now.. who give you 20% discount in first year....
Be sure to look at the excesses... and limits of cover for one illness....
Also - would the animal get cared for if you happened to fall ill... would those costs be covered
Good luck!

I had Petplan before Morethan Woofy. Never had a problem with payouts from Morethan. I stopped insurance on our elderly dog when he got towards the end of his days. It became cheaper for me to buy his regular drugs than actually to insure him and I knew if he became really very ill, at 14 years old I would not be unkind enough to put him through any expensive procedures. Have stopped with the cat now at 10 years old as well. But Meggie, as I said, is somewhat accident prone so I will continue to insure her.
Make sure the cover is enough for a big vets bill, my friend has one at present - over £4,000 and the insurance cover is only up to £2,500 for any one incident. Also check that they will accept your pup if she has been ill or whatever happened to her, as if she has had an illness that may not be covered. I believe Saga do a pet insurance, might be worth checking out.
I used to have my dog insured with Saga, but not anymore. He had a few problems in the first couple of years of his life with his skin and eyes and I had to claim. After that each year they put up my insurance premium quite considerably. You have to decide whether you want to take out a policy that would cover him if you claim in the first year but not thereafter for the same ailment or if you want a policy which covers him for all of his life for one ailment. If the latter the premiums are very high. I think it is a complete ripoff and would not bother again. I never had any of my other dogs insured and this was the first one. Overall with the premiums and for what I claimed, think I broke even. Now put money away each month, but he has been fine since.
