How much drugs could a pigeon carry in to the U.K.?

Not sure if this is the right section, but will post it anyway. Saw the programme on drugs smuggling the other night, and was just wondering if pigeons could be trained to carry drugs in to the country from the continent. How much could one pigeon carry, and how long would it take them to cross the English Channel?

I hope any of you are not speaking from experience here.

It is less than 40km coast to coast so a pigeon could easily cover that distance in 40 minutes.

Why not build yourself a pedal powered sub-marine? No radio mind! Air via a long snorkel. Not impossible.
