She/he just flew from last years nest site & watching from usual branch 20y opposite. I checked roof tile nest site last week & found wasps there. Should I leave well alone or will the wasps attack the owl ?
Love the Owls tamborine as they are one of my favourite Birds. I find them fascinating and quite comical, but they are beautiful Birds.
I would try and get rid of the Wasps though, maybe local Pest Control can sort it for you if they become a menace.
Is it a Little Owl that you have had nesting ?
What sort of Owl do you have you lucky b*gger? I have Tawney Owls at the bottom of the garden, I hear them every night, but have never caught sight of one in the 4 years I've lived hear!!
I'd get rid of the wasps - nest or not. We had a nest in our roof space and there were loads of wasps. Your local council will do the necessary, although they may charge.
(I wouldn't have thought baby owls would appreciate wasps very much...)
Get rid of the wasps nest they can become a nuisance anyway, If you know of any fishermen, they will take the nest, I only hope the disturbance won't scare the owls away. Lucky you having an owl, they are my favourite birds, all we get is bats flying around at sunset. fortunately not nesting in my loft.
