Just rescued a jackdaw
5 Answers
I have a family of them nesting high up in my chimney. Needless to say, I've avoided lighting a fire since they 'moved in'.
Esrly this morning I heard a muffled "Caw!" sounds and a bit of flapping coming from my fireplace. It only dawned on me that there was something not right a few hours later after I got up ! I shone a torch up the chimney and there he was perched on the slopey bit where the chimney hole widens. I went right in there with both hands, and in a flurry of feathers, talons and ash he was out and flying round my room. I crept up behind him, grabbed him and directed him out of my open window !
It was very satisfying to see him perched back up on the gable end being fed by one of the parents.
Does anyone else have any mildly interesting, 'god I'm bored' true stories of animal rescue ?

It was a full time job feeding them with crushed snails from my mum`s red hot poker plant. Luckily the parents took them back when I put them in the field behind the house which is unusual when they`ve been tainted by humans.
