I know, but a great story as it's what - some 3 years since they re-introduced the birdie from Germany, I believe - and into the middle of the Army war zone near the Wallops in 'Ampshire.
Nice. I had a great spotted woodpecker on the tree outside my window yesterday. I've never seen one before and the other day I saw a bullfinch, another first.
I thought it was the first Crane? There's been loads of bastards..

Like I say, I may be wrong.....I am not one of these twitchers, but great that we are attracting back these birds, even if we are destroying the overall rural balance by not understanding rural science and balance from the years of experience in our farms and the rest...........
Absolutely it's wonderful news whatever it is. They'll need to protect the nest to keep the nutters away.

That's the shame though; I guess we would have the loon fringe of "collectors" out if it wasn't protected.
heres the crane webcam, .............but its dark at the moment lol, ive been watching it on and off all day and saw the cranes a couple of times.

my parents who live in france have bustards a few fields away from their house, whenever I go over to visit there is always a big sign saying "chasse interdite"
