Just had a look, seekers. Two lovely girls. Cerist and Clarach. Both are looking o.k. after their adventure. Fantastic.
seekers, have you seen the video of the ringing? It's so moving.

Thanks for reminding me about the video - just managed to watch it now [couldn't run it on the ipad] and it's beautiful, they just lie so quietly and I love the darker amber eyes on both the girls ... dad's heritage !!
Monty is going to have a lot more work to do when Glesni flies south. Those two girls eat a lot of fish.
Young birds are called chicks, female birds are called hens. I thought I had found some bizarre welsh slavery cult until I cottoned on :-)
I know they're only birds, jomifl. They do anthropomorphise them at the Dyfi. Others sites don't seem to, except of course, 'The Lady' at Loch of the Lowes.

Anyway, Cerist and Clarach sound better than chick 1 and chick 2

Much easier than R1 and R2, you get a much better picture of which one you're referring to, if its done by name
Lots of wing flapping from the chicks at the moment, looks like they're ready to fledge:-)
I will be sad to see them go.
I've enjoyed all of the web-cams this year, but the best for all round entertainment was the Dorset kestrel cam, with the peregrine cams coming a close second.
We have a pair of collared doves nesting in our garden. We call them Mr. and Mrs Dove. Mrs. Dove sat on my foot a few days ago when I was reading a book in the garden, strangely touching..
My neighbour had a pair of collared doves nesting in their garden, not for long though as a sparrowhawk dined on one of them:-(

It's been a terrific year for 'baby watching' hasn't it !!
One of the chicks has just fledged. She's back safely on the nest now. It was Clarach. I missed it as I was putting in a donation and my fledging times guesses! Flip.
