Oops! think I posted my reply in wrong place. Thanks for replies from yesterday, especially Milvus. Upon further investigation I realise I am really naïve I didn't know that there is an illegal trade in trapping Goldfinches. Small sticks smeared in a very sticky substance are inserted into feeders and then the birds stick to them and are retrieved later, and if not dead or too damaged are sold on or bred from. How horrible is that!
