Name Of Bird

I was talking to someone today, who said that they had had a bird in their garden that was really rare for this country. It was a red something? Strike or stripe or something like that?

Any ideas?

He knows his birds, so I'm quite confident that if he says he had a black redstart in the garden that's what he had.
