Crow Hiding Eggs

I have seen a crow walking across the garden with a biggish egg in its beak 3 times now. I managed to get a photo of one egg after the crow had hidden it in the grass, carefully covering it up with loose grass. The egg is slightly smaller than a hen's egg, a light honey colour. I don't know how to upload the photo. The egg is now gone.
Any ideas on what birds these eggs may belong to....must be a very large bird.

That's a thought....we do get them, we have a rural garden. The egg I found is quite pale though.

Thank you both for your replies....I knew it must be a big bird, but never thought of pheasant. What a shame :(
Possibly a stock dove (rather like a smaller wood pigeon). eggs are cream coloured. Crows are very keen on pigeon/dove young to feed their own young

we have stock doves too...as well as dozens of wood pigeons.

Thanks for adding to the confusion :)
