Gosh brainiac - what to say. Brilliantly done, clever, very moving but ultimately sad. Such a tragedy the rate at which we are losing our songbirds.
The mournful sound of the Curlew gets me every time.

That silhouette looks a bit like Albert Steptoe don't you think:-)
Not seen any Swifts here I'm afraid this year as I can't get up onto the South Downs. I always remember the leader of our little birding group when I lived up North explaining that the Swift was the highest in the sky, with the Swallow next down and the House Martin the lowest. Also that the young Swift leaves the nest and might not land again until it wants to breed. Amazing bird.

Out walking yesterday I heard a lovely very loud song coming from the hedge next to me and saw.....my first-ever BLACKCAP. Very easy to identify, and not exactly rare, but just never seen one before. Brightened my day!
