Has anybody any idea as to a bird song which resembles the noise made when pumping up a bicycle tyre? No visual identification but bird is around Somerset now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could try here - http://www.rspb.org.uk/

Might take a while tho - all most all the birds have a recording of ther song to listen to.
depends how fast you can pump up your tyres but could it be this one?!
coal tit

I'm in agreement with Robinia's Coal Tit, but a similar sound is the Great Tit's foot pump song:

Would agree with the Great Tit- normally described as Tea-cher, Tea-cher.

Many thanks to all of you. I have not heard this song myself but was trying to find out on a friend's behalf.
The Tea-cher suggestion sounds the most likely and we do get quite a few of the Tit families in the area. Thanks again.
The problem with recorded birdsong is they're made I think by posh birds but the ones in my garden have Midlands accents. ;o)
and i always thought Robinia was a posh bird!!
Nah.......... common as dirt !!!
Could be a greenfinch, they have a 'zweeee' sort of wheezy thing they they do!
Best thing, try and track it down and have a look!

oooh, ah'll bat that Cetti's tab when I gerrold of 'er' !!
